“When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall we also appear with him in glory.” (Colossians 3:4) If Christ is your life; if you have been united to Christ with a living faith; if the Spirit of His love has assuaged the storms of your weary soul; if His compassionate smile has ever soothed your aching heart, the Apostle Paul would say to you, “when Christ, who is your life, shall appear with all the saints, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.”
Brokenness Exchanged For Blessedness
One day you’ll no longer be beset by sin and bedeviled by Satan. You’ll no longer be hindered by the weaknesses of your body, the spring and source of your countless evils and your frequent ailments. One day you’ll be granted an untarnished soul that’s just as pure as His. And you’ll be given a spiritual body fitted to bask in the bliss and blessedness of Heaven itself – “Then shall ye appear,”. You who have set your affections on Christ whom you have not seen, and yet in whom you have believed, (John 20:29) “then shall ye also appear with him in glory.”
The Glorious Prize And Your Assurance
Is this glorious prize not worthy of the daily battles you face? Is it not worth every step you take toward the day of your departure? Is not this a generous prize for all your adversities, temptations, heartaches, and sorrows? Isn’t it a blessed gift of grace to believe, and know that your faith is not in vain? Isn’t it a mercy to know that “when He shall appear,” you “shall appear with Him in glory?” As the Apostle Peter has told us, “For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 1:11 ) May the Lord lead your soul into these blessed certainties! They are the substance of a living, vibrant, passionate godliness. And to live under the fragrant influences and faultless operations of the Spirit of grace is the assurance of your salvation.
